Most online applications take 15–30 minutes to complete. After you submit, processing times vary by program:

• SNAP: Decision within 30 days. If you are in urgent need of food, you may qualify for expedited benefits in 7 days.
• Medicaid: Decision within 45 days. Disability-related applications may take up to 90 days.
• WIC: You will typically get an appointment within a few days. Benefits start the same day as your appointment if you are eligible.
• Child Care Assistance: Decision within 30 days.

You do not need to complete your application in one session. Your progress is saved automatically.

What you bring depends on the program. Most forms ask for:

1. Proof of identity — driver’s license, state ID, passport, or birth certificate
2. Proof of address — utility bill, lease, or bank statement with your address
3. Proof of income — pay stubs, an employer letter, or benefit award letters
4. Social Security numbers — for each person in your home who is applying

You can upload photos in the online form. Or bring originals to an in-person visit.

Do not have all your papers? Apply anyway. A caseworker will help you find what you need.

If your application is denied or your benefits are reduced, you have the right to appeal the decision. You must file your appeal within 90 days of receiving your denial letter (10 days for SNAP if you want to keep your current benefits during the appeal).

To file an appeal:

1. Review your denial letter carefully — it will explain why you were denied
2. File your appeal online, by mail, or in person
3. You may request a hearing where you can present your case
4. You have the right to bring a representative (friend, advocate, or attorney)

Decisions on appeals are usually made within 60–90 days.

If you think the denial was a mistake, contact our office. Many denials are due to missing documents that can be submitted to complete your application.
